Solar Systems

Solar energy is a clean and renewable source of power where no greenhouse gas emissions are released into the atmosphere when using solar to create electricity. And it is considered most suitable because the sun provides more energy than we’ll ever need.
Benefits:
1. Solar Power Is Good for the Environment
The most known fact about solar energy is that it represents a clean, and green source of energy. It is a great way to reduce our carbon footprint as there’s nothing about solar power that pollutes mother nature.

2. Solar Power Is A Free Source of Energy
The sun provides more energy than mankind could ever use, and no one can monopolise the sunlight. Your solar power system will start saving money from the moment it’s turned on; however, the solar advantages are most visible in the long-term. The longer you have your solar power system, the more you enjoy the benefits of solar technology and support the environment.

Solar Technologies
The most used solar technologies for homes and businesses are:

  • solar photovoltaics for electricity,
  • passive solar design for space heating and cooling,
  • and solar water heating.

When the sun shines onto a solar panel, energy from the sunlight is absorbed by the PV cells in the panel. This energy creates electrical charges that move in response to an internal electrical field in the cell, causing electricity to flow.

Types of Solar Panels
Monocrystalline Silicon
Also sometimes called Mono-Si or single-crystalline silicon, the solar panels are the most common among the three types of solar panels. They are shaped into bars and then cut into the squares that make up the panel. Their material is of high quality, with consistent crystalline structures that enhance the panels’ efficiency. The panels typically have cells with the corners cut off, making the have a definite characteristic look.
Advantages

  • High solar panel efficiency ratings ranging from 15 to 20 percent.
  • Space efficiency requiring the least amount of space.
  • They’re the most durable and typically come with a 25-year warranty.

Polycrystalline Silicon
Often called p-Si or multi-crystalline silicon, polycrystalline silicon solar panels are made by melting raw silicon. That gets poured into a mold that’s cooled before cutting it into perfect squares. They solar panels are less expensive and have efficiency ranges from 13 to 16 percent on average. Additionally, they occupy less space.

Thin-Film Solar
These solar panels are manufactured differently than other types of solar panels. They’re made by layering photovoltaic materials like cadmium telluride, organic photovoltaic cells, amorphous silicon or copper indium. Depending on the type of material used, the efficiency of this type of panel runs up to around 13 percent. They’re easy to make, and typically less expensive. Additionally, they have a uniform appearance that many homeowners find appealing but take up a lot of space.
